And yes, as stated ESTABLISHED & LISTEN both are Open Ports but ESTABLISHED means it is connected while LISTEN means that is waiting to be connected. When somebody actually uses it, at that moment it will be in ESTABLISHED mode.įor more information here are some man pages that are useful:īasically with this you will see how the the ports work, how they are handled and probably more information regarding sockets and their states. When nobody is using the service, it is on LISTEN mode. I’m planning to try AirVPN as it seems to be the one most people on the sub recommend for use with Soulseek, but I can’t vouch for it as of yet. Mullvad doesn’t allow for two sequential ports to be forwarded, as is required by Soulseek. The moment somebody visits the page, then it will be in ESTABLISHED mode. I will say I use Mullvad and I have trouble seeing all search results and connecting to certain members. The HTTP protocol (typically port 80) is on LISTEN mode until somebody actually goes to the server. It seems that Soulseek is listening to IPv6 ports only sudo netstat -tulnp grep Soul tcp6 0 0. The process of port opening/forwarding, for the purposes of Soulseek, will have to be done at the VPN provider's end of things - if that's actually possible with them.ĮDIT: I should be clear that most of this was directed towards the OP, not "bytheclouds".Any "ESTABLISHED" socket means that there is a connection currently made there.Īny "LISTEN" means that the socket is waiting for a connection.īoth are opened ports but one is waiting for a connection to be made while the other has a connection already made. Soulseek on Linux listening only to IPv6 ports. If you're using a VPN to connect to the Slsk network, then port forwarding/opening via your home router is irrelevant, as you are effectively 'punching a hole' in your router's NAT/firewall to make the VPN tunnel. Obviously, if you have your ports forwarded correctly the inbuilt port-open checker should tell you so. You shouldn't need to open/forward anything for "Server port". The community side of it is a wonderful, 4chan kind of weird, but. Theres also plenty of books on it, and even some movies. Highly recommend it to anyone wanting to listen to some music. Soulseek is undoubtedly THE 1 music piracy tool, apart from private trackers. They should only need to be TCP, but adding UDP won't hurt. Which, in retrospect, was incredibly stupid. So, open the port range 55125-55126 in both public + local. Listening port = 55125, Obfuscated port = 55126 Open/forward the port number in Soulseek's "Listening port", and then open the next port number after that.Į.g. You forgot to mention the extra, obfuscated port that Slsk uses: Can someone please shed a light? I want to share my files but can't manage to open the portīasically, everything you said. Hi there - Im relatively new to Soulseek, but I have been browsing and downloading successfully for a bout a month or two. There's not a lot of options there either. I have no idea if the location I'm at is supported or if this is referring not to the country I'm at, but the VPN's country I choose. I also use a vpn allows port forwarding, but not all locations are supported. I tried seeing how other routers worked, but the input fields that showed up in mine where very different from the ones I checked out, so I was quite lost on what to do. My router is a speedport smart 3 (telekom), I can't find the model here. Splitter position is now memorized when uploads and downloads are in the same tab. Changed 'Minimize to tray windows only' to 'Show tray icon' Fixed new search tab not receiving focus. Fixed a problem with client UI freezing after being minimized on OSX. I tried switching listening ports in the App to random values, turning 'use UPn' in the app itself on and off, tried switching Port Forwarding for SoulSeek directly on my. All of a sudden, however, I started getting 'Aborted' on virtually every single download, and every single user. Because of not being able to upload a lot of ppl cancel my downloads. Default server port is no longer 80, as many users have a problem connecting on that port. Used SoulseekQT for a few days - was pretty much OK. I can browse some users files, some others not, but no one can download my files. I've been using slsk for quite a while but i can't figure out how to open my port.
